Last weekend I got to visit my lovely family in my hometown. One of our friends is getting married and my sister is a bridesmaid. She was charged with the task to host the bridal shower. I should note that my sister is only nineteen, has only been to a couple of bridal showers, and most of our friends are Latinos. Our ethnicity is important because it explains why the bridal shower went awry…sort of. The day of the shower my sister is pulled away from the house from the bride. The bride takes my sister and her bridesmaids to go dress shopping in an area one hour away from our house. The bridal shower was supposed to start at 5pm, but they didn’t arrive until 7pm! The guests they had invited kept receiving texts from the bride and her bridesmaids to “just wait a couple more minutes, we are almost done….” To make it worse, I was left with the task of planning the shower last minute, decorating the house, and buying the food. Needless to say it was a stressful weekend.
