When I was younger and my family was a tad bit wealthier; we used to take many vacations to Hawaii (almost every year). I loved it there as a kid because I got to be outside all the time and absorb a different culture and scenery. Looking back now though is when I really appreciate the vivid images still inside my head. One that I recall the most is being on the island of Lanai and walking out into the water a few hundred feet and still being only knee deep. I could stand there and watch all the colorful fish swim by and see the giant islands nearby like a movie.
